Cut From The Same Cloth

I'm ashamed...
it took a loss to bring thought,
a tragic event to be taught,
we didn't argue to argue,
it was attention you sought,
we didn't fight to fight,
we fought to get along,
we didn't make fun of each other to cause pain,
we did it to grow strong,
we always competed to be right,
but we were both always wrong,
something I didn't realize
until now that you are gone.

we are family, cut from the same cloth,
there for each other to take the weight off,
help each other cool down when we'd take walks,
help each other through crossroads we may cross,
but this realization came too late,
now that my little cousin has sailed off.

you'd want us to be happy
and for us to not mourn,
I just find it difficult
when my heart is so torn,
you were too young
for your life to be cut short,
too good to already head north,
too loving and ready with support,
too compassionate and heavily adorned
with morals and values that assure a straight course.

the only thing that helps me take the edge off
is remembering we are family, cut from the same cloth.

I love you Kristian and I wish we could trade walks.
but at the end of the day, you were the one who deserves God.

Very nicely done here LP,not just in rhyme but the fact it was heartfelt,reading this
allows me to read your pain and thoughts,a very transparent piece that nailed your
feelings and became a solid tribute in the same process,im not going to give you
words of comfort or any type of wisdom either,but what i will type is this,grief is a
copping mechanism,it gets easier with time and the memories grow fonder,anyways
great verse that was a joy for me to read,thanks for letting me gain an insight into
a piece of your life...respect and peace.

this is an awesome tribute. words were very honest. the like the subtle sail theme running around tho that's far from the point of the piece, i just had to point that out. Condolences bro and stay up.

Great piece of writing here. On the emotional tip you could tell it was packed with raw feelings. All of the questions asked, the confusion and overall vibe of 'this was an injustice' hit the spot, it's a real talent to put your feelings into words so clearly especially when something like this leaves you with so many different emotions. The length was right and I thought the ending summed it up well, cause as I said before the 'injustice' theme ran throughout but at the end you kind of looked at it another way with the God line. On the technical tip the rhymes were crisp and the first section made some good use of paradoxes. All good, keep it up.
