I make this thread knowing there are some people who will view this as fap material, that is fine, if the tables were turned I would probably be just as petty.

When I joined LA I had every intention of soaking up game and improving as an artist. After nearly two years spent on here I need to be honest with myself and ask "have I made any significant improvements" i think the answer to that question is a resounding no. This is not a failure on the part of the amazing community on this forum, I have received extremely valuable feedback from so many talented people, i simply was not able to implement any of that feedback to produce a satisfactory result.

My biggest fear has always been becoming one of those delusional guys who sacrifices having a meaningful life because he's chasing a fantasy that was never meant to be. I am choosing to fall back before I let that happen.

At the end of the day music is the only outlet I have at my disposal to express myself, so I doubt I will stop making music entirely, and I wouldn't even say that I will never post another song on this forum again. But right now I need to step back and find my identity before I put out another song that ultimately results in humiliation. As Tech N9ne said "I'm an artist and I'm sensitive about my shit"

All trolling aside, this is straight from the bottom of my heart, you will not see another song from me unless I believe in it 100%. Even if that means I only make three songs all year. At this point it is more important to me that I salvage my self respect than it is to be the most prolific audio head on LA.

With all that out the way, you are free to begin the roasting process.

all trolling aside, this is good man. I will say this tho, creating more content will assist in finding your comfort zone and/or lane. for the most part, people are pretty upfront here on what they like. granted, LA isn't the end all, be all for whats dope. its just a collective, right?

my suggestion would be instead of waiting for some miracle to happen, just keep throwing shit up. something will stick and go from there.

My biggest advice is to stop saying “this isn’t supposed to be lyrical”. You stop yourself from improving by saying that and really accepting that you believe it shouldn’t be lyrical for mainstream. You can be mainstream and lyrical, you just got to find the right balance and sound for yourself.

You say “I’m not trying to make lyrical music” all the time. Well then that’s not really good music then. I get you want to be on radio and whatnot but again, that doesn’t mean your music needs to be trash. Are there trash artist out there... well yea... but even they have some decent lyrics here and there. But then look at super star artist like j Cole and Kendrick but both are lyrical as fuck. Shit even 2 chains aside from his bullshit has some clever ass lines scattered in his verses.

As neek said tho, not making much music isn’t the answer. Making more would be your solution. We started around the same time I think. Did you ever hear one of my first drops on the site? Legit garbage. I can honestly say I think each track I drop I get better and better. On a lot of my drops ppl will say “this is your best drop yet” and that is what I strive for. You ain’t got to be the best, just better than your last drop. Strive for more each time.

Also just because you write something doesn’t mean it needs to be tracked either. I like to fuck around in down time n write a bit. I’ll write like half verses spit them on a beat, record on my phone n just drop on a chat I’m in. Then when I do feel motivated n inspired, I sit down and do full verses and practice spitting them and then record. Point of that is saying, sometimes you gotta throw away verses. You can make a quick recording on your phone for shits n giggles and send it to some friends. You just don’t need to invest that much effort in all of your tracks.

Do this for fun rather than being a “prolific” audio head and you will improve. Forget numbers, go for quality.

Just my 2 cents.

Just let me clarify, I am not quitting making music, I am taking a break from releasing music. I will only release something if I believe it to be of the highest quality. If that means taking two months to work on a single song that is what I will do.
