Ok, here's the first of the many "updates" about the tourney. In this I'm simply going to detail the criteria upon which verses will be judged. This is basically the "form" judges will use when judging and briefly explains each element of the verse that needs evaluating. As we're running a very "transparent" process I figured giving you guys who're entering the "heads up" on what you're going to be judged on is only fair as it may help you improve your verses.

Content - This category deals with the actual substance of the verse.
Concepts - Do the concepts work? Are they fresh? did anything stand out or fall short?
Impact - Do the punches or "key bars" in the verse re-inforce the aim or take away from it?
Creativity - Is this just generic stuff or is it more creative? Has the emcee been TOO creative?

Technique - This deals with the technical aspects of emceeing
Foundation - Is the piece rhythmically sound (ie is it following regular "pulse)? Does it rhyme? Is it structured in a correct way?
Schemes - How complex are the rhymes? Are the rhymes hurting or helping the piece? Are the multies forced or natural sounding?
Flow - Does the piece flow smoothly off the tongue? Is the flow the same throughout or is there more interesting "movement" in the piece? Is the word choice economical enough, too economic or too wordy?

Delivery - This details the execution/delivery of the verse
Tone - Is the overall tone of the verse in-keeping with the goal? Is there tangible emotion or is it "flat?" Is the vocabulary being utilised appropriately for the style?
Coherency - Does the verse make sense? Are words being mis-used? Are correct tenses in place, do they work?
Charisma - Are you entertained by the verse or was it tough to read/listen to? Was there a decent level of "performance" in the verse?

Once this form has been filled out judges will be able to "see" their winner simply by seeing who won each of the 3 categories,  3 categories means no ties, which is why each panel also has 3 judges.

Please note that these are the evaluation criteria for BOTH Audio and Text, this is a rap forum and rap standards are expected in our tourneys in both text and audio.

Good luck!
