Rhode nt1-a or Blue bluebird (what my vocals are recorded on) or if you are a mac user, the apogee line has always peaked my interest.

Those are both good. Do you have a good pre-amp? You can get more out of a mic by upgrading to a good pre amp. There are a bunch of different ones. I don't have the bread for it yet, but I'd want to get the Golden Age Pre 73 mkiii

Yea... no, that's a bobo one. That's more of just a way to be able to get mic plugged into computer without haveing a USB mic. No hate, I got a bobo one too lol. Focusrite 2i2 or something like that. But same thing, these ain't real pre amps. I mean they are but they bobo.

So for me, I got a good mic, but a bobo audio interface. My mic is not being used anywhere near its capacity. It just is what it is.

you can think of it as having a high powered subwoofer but it's connected to an amp that doesn't produce enough power. One might be better off with a subwoofer not as good and an amp that is more fitting for that sub.

If you serious enough to already have a mic and feel the need to upgrade it, then you should be upgrading that pre amp as well. Which one you upgrade first is another question.

Your current mic might do better with a better pre amp, compared to a better mic with the current pre amp. Then if you upgrade pre amp first you can upgrade mic down the line. Vs it might not be as smoothly the other way around (what I did... oh fucking well... too late).

congrats on the new mic. it was an excellent choice. I nearly got that one as well, but I wanted a little extra crispness which si why I went with blue bird. that doesn't mean its better, certain voices sound better on certain mics. I do vocal inflections sometimes and what not and crispness was something that benefited my voice.

solid mic choice tho. the nt1-a is really a great fucking mic.

as ive stated before, regarding the pre-amp I personally have wanted a GAP Pre73 which is top notch.

regardint the preamp you will need to find out how warm you want your voice and what not. if you can get ahold of Neek, id recommend you ask him about which pre to get and let him know your budget. he is the most experienced with preamps on here, at least as far as I know. I belive he actually has multiple preamps he uses. I know he is partial to tube preamps and not so much the ssd ones.the one I mentioned I want is not a tube preamp, its ssd (just an fyi).

Actually L.P. I just picked up a Roland Quad Capture, it's got a built in compressor, low pass filter, amp etc. From what I've read it's quite high quality. I got a lot of reading to do though to learn about it's capabilities I will advise how I like it.
