ORION
2003-2013

Ten years
Let me tell it like it is
From the Golden Era to pathetic little shits
From 'all I can say is vote illa'
To 'Briggzy for mod'
From ten Christmases to actually witnessing gOd
From Scotty against ILLA
To Scotty against me
From LA beatin' LG
To LA beatin' Stage 3
From forgotten founding fathers
Like P, Anubis and Lou
To the new school
'Cuz they are doin' it too
From votin' sombreros to caps
It's bonkers
From A-Clipz to Noxious
From Demonic to Optick
From voting him 'cuz he's Hectic
To those 08 to 10 guys just beggin' to be respected
From 2011 when Scotty was gonna close the site
To Nep savin' it
Then disappearin' overnight
From Ikon
When he was carryin' the torch
To Chain and J5
Now straight savagin' the boards
From DTK havin' third most losses in ranks
To goin' +15 as an ominous champ
From Kay
Not many are real as B is
To Cuba on some year-on-year MVP shit
From those five motherfuckers I ain't even gonna name
To the dozens of you tryna guess 'em all the same
From those dyin' for attention
Got my name droppin', hatin'
To my three certs and two close for Vet nomination
From humble starts to glory
From iller da kid to ILLSTARRR
An LA success story
From the last King Classic to the opening one
Nobody here will forget what Stalin wrote for his son
From Cuba's Four Horsemen
To that Fifth Dawg Free
And titles
Who was that guy who retired all three?
From all the classic tournaments
Performances devastatin'
To infidels bein' under O-fficial Investigations
From Ban Points to Spit 4 Rank shit
From Stank's pics
To Cuba's stories
To Chain's gifs
From Tec talk to Perfecto's timeless style and more
From 28 and 63 to 89 and 4
From Symbion and Hanging goin' crazy as shit
To a Hundred Bars of Fire settin' a blaze in this bitch
From me v ILLA
The definitive fight nights
To the first 31 Scottys who couldn't get it quite right
From the nerdy types to the ones claimin' street life
From Jehu's afro to the ponytail on G-Pfeif
From all you motherfuckers I can't stand right now
To O Block...
...'Cuz that's my man right now!
From beginning to end
This is the definitive summary
Who gonna get hurt?
And how are you gonna come at me?
From boycottin' to disses
To underplayin' the sickness
I know you types
Ten years round the way with you bitches
But from ILL-POWER and XFade
The original forces
To ELITE and Dynasty
Deliverin' raw shit
Then from Asylums and Assassins
To Front Lines and New Eras
I gotta say
They just a whole lot of new errors
From VM and Syndicate
To LI and HG
No ambitions and no competition
From the endless debates to the only fact
From Renegades...
...Nah, there ain't nowhere to go from that

CUBA
LA TODAY

This a veterans parade, on the pulse of this action
And Vietnam firestorms engulfed when we clashing
Operating Free-ly, helicopters dropping weight obscenely
G'ns to the end like we populated Fiji...
Migrated to LA and now we boss tyranny clearly
The counterweight to BG's conspiracy theories
We investigative journalists topping syndicated content
This ain't a LI we bout to blow like a vindicated bomb threat...
I Instigated contests then infiltrate the complex
Never imitate when I diss a great, disintegrated, Kon next...
LA X was looking lax 'till they made space for the greatest
Back to back sickness like the face of a Janus embracing a sadist
Sensational cadence, bringing the divinity lyrically
Make the brain of an atheist crave to pray for its saviour
And if this was a school report, y'all would be useless to score
Only time you're seeing VM A is those music awards...
I penetrated Renegades to generate inaction
Got a grip on elevation like escalator traction
Command & Conquer since the days of Red Alert
So much death and devastation
From the breadth of recitation
I might make the gates of heaven burst

Don't cross me...

IKON

Futuristic Google. Call it Foogle-ing lyrics.
A young lad searches, sees this site, says "Ooo", and then clicks it

["They're so advanced in 2023... When I was 9, girls had just lost their cooties."]

Anyway,
A veteran, such as myself, happens to be online in spurts...
Forgot my password. Guess a couple. Third try, it works!
Tell my tablet "New Posts" and then thousands show incredibly
Advance search my name, and oh my, why've they mentioned me?
Late to respond. I read the myths of why I'm absent
Who I was, what I do, no clue of any happ'nings...
300 active users! LA's changed so much!
Once LA's future… Now my title reign is age old stuff...
Kids ain't so tough, but time to list all the "News" I see...
Old crew mates moved on, and X Fade made another Mutiny!
Renegades still here, holding pride of the past
But Cuba still schooling, so they're alive to them if you asked
The Dynasty has re-emerged, I made Fatal the fill in leader
Lyricist Inc. ain't extinct, but isn't very active either
New crews I've never seen, one is clearly the new best
They have most the active members, so votes slow in their contests!
But the politics are worse now than I've ever seen
I check the battlefield and witness dick riding's new extreme
Multis and flow got more value than hits
J-Man lost minus every vote from his clique
Decent members battling newbies just to get their ranks up
I tap the touchscreen text ranking, and witness the vast sums...
Like… "That's cool, but your record would've suffered back then
In LA's Golden era, talent was more prevalent, and…"
Orion ain't even top ten. That's Weaker "Joes" some vets names' below
We rarely battled noobs, but they perceive that our pace was slow
Tournament wins, and crew battles though don't even show
It's cool. I got nothing to prove to these newer folks...

The Foogle lad calls me out: "KON 'Face Time 12.0' or Audio?!"
Well, since I'm old school, the Audio route is where I'd rather go...

I reply, "Set it up, House Rules. Send it through..."
My account gets auto-locked. IP's match?! Wonder whose!

The cycle Kontinues…

SCOTTY

Scotty GMV

This was nicely put together, everyone put their own spin to it, liked the way it it was split into sections, made the whole thing flow well from one to the other.

Not gonna dissect it lyrically, as this wasn't the point, and even If I did, there wouldn't be too much negative to say, everyone brought it, tons of great lines, rhymed well, flow was smooth. Like the Stalin' line, that hit home.. Cu brought the heat, Ikon's was creative, Scotty got technical, was all great.

Good read fellas!

Ha...whoever disses me next, free punchline for ya

I just caught a glimpse of my own battle score at the side of one of my posts and have realised I got it wrong in the piece

It's 90 and 4, not 89 and 4

For a looooong time (pre pinkslip battle in...2010? 2011?) I was 89-4, so without even thinking that's just what came out when I was writing...despite me actively having to go and check Frank's score for that bar, I didn't check my own while I was there...

If any generous soul feels like fixing it for the record... go... 'Perfecto's style defining the board' previous bar and then change 89 and 4 to 90 and 4...thanks

Good times

And thanks Woods for the feedback

Good shit lads.

Orion - effortless explanation of days gone by. Loved the short style and the rhyme scheme switch ups. Nice word plays in there too. Overall a dope verse.

Cuba - still one of my favourite writers ere. I just never lose interest reading your work. Loved how it connected well with Os verse, and I really dug how you mentioned Kon was next, but then carried on killing it! Best flow IMO out of all 3 verses.

Ikon - your intro bar was hot! Set it off nicely with that. I really liked that part. Flow was on point, and it's evident in your written a that you're an audio head at heart. Nice closing bar aswell.

Scotty - you had some big shoes to fill and IMO you did a great job of it. You should write more cuz this verse was tight. Links connected nicely and you did we'll to not go off on a tangent with the story you told.

Really enjoyable read lads.

Good looks - gutted I couldn't get shit together to do this - (was asked to do some of the old school shit - but seriously I can't remember much of it haha)

Even scotty brought it.

Nice mention of my Symbion battle as well - possibly the best battle I've ever been in.

Orion - Soooooo! The monster wakes. (shoulda mentioned me LOL)...naw but real talk...I always enjoy when you come out the woodwork. Everyone (whether they dislike ya or dig ya)...likes it when the classic champion throws hit hat in the ring. It was cool how you referenced all the newer crews being new errors. (including mine...ha). Nice history lesson. Yup you still got skills bruh.

Ikon - wuss good ! J-5 won fair and square....LOL....I loved that war you two were in. That makes for some classic shit. No one ever doubted your skills. I totally agree with the newb thing. Theres no enjoyment or sense of surprise battling someone with zero chance of winning. But the flip side to that is...how are the new guys gonna elevate if they never get a shot. So its a double edged sword.  Me?...I like battling someone whos gonna make sure the votes end up split. Its that edge that makes you really question what it is you lack so then you tend to scrutinize your work and spot your mistakes. On that note....I would love to see you and J-5 have one last battle. It would be epic. Good work on the verse. (again....good to see LI in the dropBig smile)

Cuba - whatt it do!! LOL...I like how both renegades took some quick shots at us and others. Your style is pretty deadly due to your vast knowledge. I always , since I first arrived, liked your extensive vocabulary. Its not like how others use it , like when they write a piece full of long winded words to buffer their show of wit. You actually "USE" it. Its so easy to tell when somebody has the google gun and drops a piece full of pseudo educated nonsense. But you genuinely wield these words and drop them effectively. I think thats just raw. Plus you got that Biblical apocalyptic/Roman Warhorse type of style that just vibes so well as you make sure each line is integrated with the next. Good work! (good to see LI in the dropLOL)

Scotty!!- Wow.....What can I say....you surprised me the most here. But then again....I always knew you had the temptation to write and drop santhin. You executed your drop almost perfectly IMO. I laughed at the Beast Mode line and the battle between Kos and Orion. That was slick...in a short drop you kinda gave us a nice glimpse into L.A.'s powerful past. Great work Scotty...you oughtta drop an OM every now and then.

This was cool. Kinda retro with all the old old shit y'all talking bout though. You know, the same ol same. It some tmes feels like hearing gramps tell the same old Vietnam story I've heard him tell a million times before when I read conversations between Orion and Scotty.
All the verses were decent though.

Good shit.

Such different styles all around. Every verse can be appreciated in its own way and they all mesh so well no matter how different they were. O always reminded me a Rakim as to how effortless the style looks. It's always so smooth and never loses rhythm. Cuba is second to none when it comes to the vocab and wording. Loved the verse...very aggressive as well and awesome take on this. Ikon...awesome to see his skills back on display for this one. Really creative and detailed take on the future. Never lost pace and ended it very creatively. Scotty did a solid job as well telling his side of the story. Brought it better than people I've seen who say they've written for a long time. Slick closer as well. Awesome collaboration here. Everything came together awesomely and I'm glad to have come back at the right time to witness this cool 10 year event you guys set up. Great job.

Orion, dope story, intriguing glimpse of the past mixed in with modern insight. Great read

Cuba, not the typical verse I'm used to reading from you, was still a hit though. Couple sections with some really nice flow

Ikon, felt you killed this. Nice flow throughout, excellent syllable balance and most of all very entertaining content.

Appreciate the responses from everybody...for a while, while writing this, I didn't like it at all, but by the time I finished it I've actually come to be pretty happy with it, especially in terms of serving its purpose, both standalone and in combination with what the other guys brought

There was a lot more material -- probably another 56 bars' worth, that never made it in -- ten years is a long motherfuckin' time, and I've been here for nine and a half of them, and know the other six months well enough also...so getting it all in was no easy thing...so while I took my shot in the piece re people being omitted who can go fuck themselves, there is obvious truth to that but it's definitely worth clarifying that (and I should have written it in the piece...only real regret, besides getting my own record wrong) there are quite a lot more people I would have liked to have mentioned if I could...including Renegades

I had been dating a girl for a few months when I joined a 2 month-old LA. This week, as LA turns 10, my daughter turned one. I went from wasting hours on LA to literally not having the time to take aside 20 minutes and contribute (just trying to write this has taken me an hour due to work interruptions, and I've had to change the amount 4 times). That said, this was great, and Orion, you really nailed down a lot of those LA memes (Vote sombrero, btw), and events.

The flow, content and rhymes on this piece by everyone was on point. Cuba, your words amaze me every time I read them. You are legend.

Shav, you brought it and showed that everything is cyclical. There were people in 04 that were saying the new guys were nothing compared to the ones (Ecliptic/2Ton,others from before LA had its own site, back when it was a groups site) before them. Those 04 dudes are now legends. There new generations will always be put down at first. Game was played for being new before he was an Ikon, now doing the same to others, lol.

Many of us don't have time for LA. I wouldn't have been as involved in music if it wasn't for this site, so even it it's once every 2 years, I'll be around in some way.

No I didn't...

'Cuba's stories'...that was all the words I could afford...but I got them in there...in good company alongside Stank's pics and Chain's gifs

Unless you were talking to Jehu...in which case...forget it

But yeah...doing this event in general, as well as writing this piece...took a lot of research to get me all caught up...and while I wasn't able to give it as much time as was needed to really make it as good as it could have been, and as much as it came at a bad time for activity, I'm glad I did it in a way and appreciate those who did their thing and have supported its success... And to think, all this 'cuz I fucked up my shoulder...which finally healed fully like two days ago, just as LA X is wrapping up...and there you have it

Can't believe I haven't fed this. I remember reading it and then something came up, then I guess it got moved.

But yo, this shit was major. Kon and Scotty's verses were good don't get me wrong but O and Cuba killed this shit. The history y'all laid out in your verses was master storytelling type shit. I think y'all did a good job of bringing it full circle too. Loved that Cuba started it off with the Vereran's Day reference, brilliant!

Kon, nice to see you back dropping. Preciate the mention in this. If it helps any, I 100% agree about how punches should be the deciding factor in a battle. I don't Think that gives anybody open range to rhyme shit like gangsta and Pampers tho. Just saying. Peep my punches tho, they were stellar!

Scotty, it's always nice to see you drop a verse from out of nowhere. You got a good memory and can always add something that most people had forgotten or didn't know, even when you're just having a conversation on the board.

Overall this was a great historical type piece, LA has a rich history and I'm happy to be a small part of it. I would have really enjoyed seeing BSD and Jehu get in on this one or some guy like Nep, Cal and Perfecto come back and drop in. I miss alot of the old heads like those guys.

But yeah, we'll played here, say up all.

This turned out nearly perfect in my opinion.

Orion, awesome job with your verse. I didn't want your topic due to the outside research and necessity for so many past references. I got specific in some cases (Had to) , but wisely chose something that was more open to a general recollection rather than specific, and was able to put more effort into being creative with mine, which is what I preferred. You killed it with the flow. Just exemplifies a veteran at this word game.

Cuba, some things never change. You've always had a unique, "won't dumb it down" approach as far back as I can remember. Props for staying true to yourself on a consistent basis. I personally feel your lines are not always fully understood, and some people just give props because they know it's supposed to be good even if they don't catch it the first read. The lines genuinely make sense if you're up to speed with your references and definitions of your vocabulary. Rapping dictionary. You show no mercy for the ignorance of a situation that you're savvy to. Ha.

Orion, you invited Scotty to this party? J/p. I felt Scotty did a good job in this context, and delivered a verse that was not a let down. Could have been a disaster seeing as he rarely writes yet collabed with the names mentioned, but held his own. Good job.

As for the feed, thanks for your time. My verse seemed to be the most polarizing of the bunch. Well, I wouldn't like it any other way. It wasn't my intention (I'm on a positive stride), but if you felt that way, yes, you're condescended. If that's the reason you're not feeling a verse on a rap site called Lyrical Assault, then there's nothing I can say. It's in rhyme, so I don't see anything to complain about even if that was my intention.

Peace.

Yo Kon The Don, I'm not so sure that's what people mean. I think it's more of an issue of the other vets were doing a historical style piece and yours came across more as bitter and petty.

But it's all good, you gotta do you.
