Personally if that happens to me I take a break for fifteen minutes or so then I try to think about the topic I was writing about again and start writing on a different piece of paper and then add if I like what I've just wrote so just take a bit of time and then go back to it would be my advice

I have the same prob. I haven't completed a solo song in a day since i was 14. and I usually gas out at 8 bars also..when that happens i pace and freestyle from where i left off writing to pick the momentum back up

well, for me, I usually find a beat first. And then I think about the topic, and just freestyle. Once I feel like the freestyle is heading the right direction, I stop, grab a pen, then freestyle again, writing everything down. I edit and organize after that and record. It's really just feeling the vibe, getting immersed in what you're writing about.

Before i write, on paper or in my phone, i freestyle in my head. And Before i freestyle, i open my dictionary and find a powerful word in it like, "explosion" or "lightning" , and then i can usually freestyle bars around the topic.

a good way to combat this is to not think so much of the topic at hand or subject. Try to think of the topics vocabulary and work off that.
For example doing a topic on or subject in prison look at some vocabulary Prison Inmates Jail Cells lockdown shank You get the drift. I catch myself doing this. Sometimes if.that doesn't cut it I'll drink a few or puff a little to get back at it. Also don't think too hard |

Thanks Dizzle for the shoutout since i've been mentioned I'll give my side of things. I write and when i start not to like it then i put it to the back of my mind and go about day to day life not paying it any mind and after a couple of days I'll go back to it relisten to the beat to catch the flow and read what i got and what i write new might take it in a completely new direction previously unthought of. Your brain is like any muscle you wouldn't try to over-work out you'd just burn out you need to rest your brain otherwise you'll burn it out as shown with some of the stuff you come up with you bin.

I do agree with the rest about taking some time off from the verse. For me some verses I can't no matter what I'm doing. For instance "multiverse theory" I wrote, to me it had to be done within hours. It was on my mind all day. When that happens I start trying to incorporate everyday things into my scheme and rhymes. I'll use the prison shank as an example. If I'm sitting there and can't figure out what to write after some line that involves a shank but I'm in the kitchen cutting up some tomatoes, a light bulb lights up and I know I'll be able to incorporate that somehow.
Be creative and enjoy writing and audio. It should be fun and not work

Well What I do is try on some really good rappers and carry on the beat and start uttering words related to the topic and then make it sound some sense then take a break and start again and combine the parts I like. Helps carrying out beats with concepts.
