So as a way to kick-start a revival of the old Classic Verses section of the site, I am creating this thread for people to nominate any Open Mic, Audio Mic, or Battle they feel is exceptional and deserves to be highlighted to members of the present and future. You can nominate a thread from any time frame. It doesn't matter if it's the very first post in Open Mic or has just been posted. You can also nominate your own work to be included in Classic Verses. A nomination will not automatically mean it will be included in Classic, it is simply that, a nomination. I will decide at a later date how I will handle the nominations and entering to the Classic Verses page. On a side note, it helps when you rate threads, such as Open Mics and Battles. Just rate what you feel it deserves out of 5. To rate a thread, click on the Stars at the top of the first post. You may now proceed to share any hidden gems of LA. That's all the stuff I missed out on. That is the only bad thing on my part and on other's that came around in a more recent time. We won't be able to really recognize the old heads with the classics verses from before our time. I didn't even know that collab existed until now. |

This was one of my favourite battles when I first joined back in 04 on my "Tigger" account, rd 1 was good but as a keystyle/freestyler myself I loved the way Cuba (IceC) did this shit, just awesome. Might not have the best lyricism or punches, but I challenge ANYBODY on the forum to go for 100 bars against someone else and do it as well as these guys did. Especially those advocates of "punches are the most important thing in a battle, flow doesn't matter." Honestly though, both of the 100 bars battles could easily deserve a spot. I just realized that rd2 is already in there, so I change my nomination to round 1 though I can't for the life of me find it via the search function. What if you did these in a similar fashion to the OMOTM. Put up the nominations and have people vote on which should go into the classics at the moment. Then make a new nomination thread and so on. They obviously the top OM or OM's would be put in as classics.
The same could be done on the veteran side as well.

I'd rather discussions on how it'd work to be in Request for feedback on Hall of Fame / Vets and keep this just for nominations ready for when what ever system we go with gets implemented.
I'm focused on finishing some other stuff at the moment but I'll try and get round to sorting out Classics and Vets soon. But I don't think an OMotM would work. Having say 5 open mics that are all classics voted on with one getting in doesn’t make sense if all 5 should be in there. |
