everyone has stages. it sucks when you have to write for a battle youv agreed to etc. its worth taking a week off from writing and try not to overthink shit and let something inspire you.

If we talk about open mics, i always write about the things that somehow relates to my personal life/events.
You can go and take a look at all of my OMs. Wether they are personal pieces or my own thoughts. even my collab with TURTLE (about baby in the woumd of a crackhead) was actually related to an event that inspired me to write that. For me, i just cant write on the topics i dont feel emotional about or are too artificial.so, the best way to write is find the topic inside you. Dont let the pen drag your feelings/thoughts but let the thoughts/feelings drag yo pen. |

Focus on just the opener. Try to make it good enough for you. You'll probably find that if you do succeed in coming up with a good opener (even if it takes a while and a lot of rewriting) you'll have the motivation to finish the rest of the piece...I have lots of concepts I just never get into for whatever reason. In those cases, you just gotta strike while the irons hot which may be random and not when you expect.

When I like the opener, it's a wrap from there on. I usually incorporate a scheme first and if it's fire then I go from there.
