Can someone give me help with finding topics for pieces and opening my span of creativity

I just take influence from stories in general. I've written a a few pieces with the idea of Game of Thrones in mind, I've written a big piece on the idea behind Katy Perry's In Another Life, I've written a story based on Macbeth.

When you read a book or watch TV, take note of the characters and what they are going through. Obviously don't just copy the story but you can flip the story your own direction.

Another way is to simply come up with your own story off the top. I'm currently making a topical based on the four seasons. In the first season, the protagonist's father gets diagnosed with leukaemia. The idea of the seasons is to journey through his coping process and the emotions, using the new season to kind of be a metaphor to how he might feel or to create a tone for a mood or something.
