![]() Gza- Unknown to many rap fans, but Wu fans argue he could be tha best Wu solo member ever. Alongside "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx" by Raekwon. "Liquid Swords" is one of the most grimest Wu solos ever, beats done dope by Rza and Gza really on form with his smooth flow and creative vocab. Tha album kicks off wiv "Liquid Swords" an eerie kung fu flick sound clip intro, it plays a young girl talkin about a warrior clan that intrudes in her home and kills her family. It's a fairly long talkin intro but eventually gets into the beat wich is raw. 2nd track is "Duel Of The Iron Mic" one of the best beats on the album wiv memorable verses from Gza, Inspectah Deck, and Masta Killa. ODB only gets the hook on it. Ma fave track on this is "Living In The World Today" Gza does sum of his best verses on this track wiv very very minor help from Method Man. "Gold" "I Gotcha Back" and "Swordsman" are tha otha hardest hittin tracks on this LP. Method Man kills the track "Shadow Boxing" wiv sum witty wordplay and flow. Duets come in thick and fast on this album- Masta Killa, Inspectah Deck, ODB Rza, Method Man, Ghostface Killa, Raekwon, Killa Priest, and Dreddy Krugger. Weak points?- Kinda, sum tracks such as "Investigative Reports" are a bit less raw but still fine. Also, tha last track is a Killa Priest solo "Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth" itz an amazin track but it's also on "Heavy Mental" Priest's 1st album. Gza would been dope wiv a verse on that. So dope album, fans of Gza and Wu will cherish! HOLLA BACK 1 Dez |

nuthin wrong at all with GZA's flow man. altho i can see why some might not feel his delivery as much cos he's kinda laidback an shit.
i have somewhere in the region of 200 hiphop CDs, LPs, EPs & cassettes, and Liquid Swords is my favorite. its fuckin flawless. unbelievable joint, just hops from banger to banger. the definition of real hiphop. oh yeah 1 more thing, anyone to whom GZA is unknown, is not a rap fan. props on the review tho, had to up it. |
