Lol, you're ignoring what really matters there. And "yanks" is a beyond old term. That's historical. But yes, the name Derrick is the real name.

I'm not saying he's got the best wordplay to hit the game, but The Drought/Carter 1/Carter 2 >>> Relapse and Recovery.

And I like Relapse and Recovery.

Right. Couple of things..
1) There is no such thing as SELLING OUT. As soon as you've sold 1 record - you've become commercial in someones sense. I come from the hardcore scene - which is rife with this bullshit.

2) Artists should write music for themselves first. Which is how most of the classic albums come about. It's when you start to write for "your fans" that the standards can slip.. or trying to recreate the "feel" of a previous album.

^ Some sense. Thank fuck.

Just to let y'all know, if I make it as an actor, and get to a place where I can do cheesey films for millions, make my own clothing brand, and do shit commercials for companies with more money than sense.. I fucking will.

I think it's a combination of many things,

1.the artist matures and takes he music to another level, and breaks
from the mold by doing more in depth stuff, which ppl will either
like or dislike,if it doesn't appeal to the masses then it's a so
called fall off,but in truth money and age change the artist..

2,fans are fickle period..

3,it's hard to stay in a certain vein when your hearts not in it,
take Eminem,a guy I never really liked, when he first came on the
scene,I thought he was quite funny,he brought with him a kind of
niche style, then he started to lean more to the shock value by
he's 2nd album, and by the end he was a mess

My conclusion, nothing last forever, every generation has made and
thrown their hero's up the charts,it what ppl do,and let's pretend
here,if Eminem or any other artist stayed the.same as when they
1st got noticed, you by getting older would change, and find the guy
stuck in he's ways, and then move on yourself and lose respect for
your former idol, what it boils down to is this, from an artist point
of view,make the most of today,cuz tomorrow isn't guaranteed..peace.

Holy shit, Crim. Are you a necromancer? You successfully managed to bring a thread back from the dead!

On topic: Most rappers start out with a specific style which is being enjoyed a lot. Then said rapper tries to take a different direction to stay relevant and it gets hated on. Kanye West is a perfect example of this. Everyone HATED 808's & Heartbreak when it came out and said Ye was done. Lo and behold, what he did then is what rappers tried to do last year and two years ago.

When it comes to Eminem, it isn't that he fell off. It's just that his previous material was revered to the point it had gotten godmode status, but it wouldn't make sense for him to stay on that specific topic or events in his life. It would have gotten old. So he carefully switched up the format and got hated on because people were not ready for the switch.

Certain trends are also extremely important, especially now. With the rise of youtube we've seen all sorts of retarded shit making it mainstream. Panda by Desiigner would have NEVER gotten off ground back in the 2000 era, but since we've had people like Future and Young Thug fucking up already and gaining a following, Desiigner got a chance and took it. The thing is though... Will his next song be as popular? I think not.

Yeah.

Don't bring up old threads...if you want to reopen the debate then create a new thread.

If you do so then I'll move your posts across into it.
