watched..
knocked up
assassination of jesse james
a time to kill
Saw 5
knocked up... was alright.... a typical seth rogan movie... decent script, with the usual cheap laughs... story was good... not the typical romcom ending... overall it dragged out towards the end which left an unannoying feel to the movie - 5/10
assassination of jesse james by the coward robert ford
awesome movie.... reading imdb some said it dragged out, but the slowness added to the movie's edgy and paranoid feel. brad pitt and casey affleck are both awesome in the movie... i didnt doubt for a second they wernt who they where portraying, casey for his brilliant job in portraying an awe strucke young man and his pursuit to become involved to kill his idol, who he eventually gained a deep love/hate relationship with.. i can t sepak highly enough of his performance... brad pitt was awesome... cold, intelligent, charasmatic, crazy... everything jesse james has been speculated of being... i give this movie 9/10...
a time to kill
period drama, set in the racist south, where two hicks rape a black man's daughter, fearing they will inevitably be let off, or at the most a light sentence, he decides to take the law into his own hands and kill them, the resulting movie.. is about a white man defending the black man to a rough court and the whole case being turned in uproar by black power marches and the KKK's constant presence. Samuel l jackson shines in this movie, brilliantly playing the man who knew the consequences of his actions and decided it had to be done, kevin spacey plays a classy secondary supporting actor, while Matthew McConaughey is also excellent as his portrayol of the lawyer who is caught between fighting for a seemingly lost cause, despite pleas that its ruining his career, even if he wins, and countless intimidation tactics and brutality from the KKK... another awesome movie.. if you like powerful movie, with a them about racism, this is only second to Americna history X - 8/10
Saw 5
this was alright.... several scenes had me thinking... "shit!... thats crazy".. other than that it wasnt impressive, no where near the level of the first two or even 3/4... plot was a little predictable.. its the usual annoyance when the characters dont do what should be obvious, there was some sick scenes, i.e the opening and the final task scene.. however these could have been thought of by a sick 12 year old lol... shocking doesnt create a great story.. which i dont believe this had.. i believe saw has had its time.. its now struggling in its complexity and explaining each detail in the movies are ruining the plot and pace of the movie... overall a dissapointment, i wasnt expecting much and got it....6/10
overall..
watch the assassination of jesse james, by the coward robert ford..
awesome.

Thanks Mark...
I've seen knocked up and its no Forgetting Sarah Marshall or that one with McLovin' in (help me out here someone)...same vein but not as funny, wouldn't turn it off but wouldn't go out of my way to see it either
A time to kill....you didn't mention Donald & Keifer Sutherland...Donald Sutherland is such a fucking baller (tho not really in this film, Outbreak anyone?), I think it is ok...has some decent actors in it and its a decent film but I duno...First time I saw it I thought his closing speech was sick but second time I saw it (last Saturday) I wasn't that impressed, its a decent watch and something different...I would only watch it if you haven't seen it before and if its on...wouldn't go out of my way to see it either, I'm sure there have been better films made with the theme of racism

First tip, Lets not refer to each other by first names. Ta.
Second tip, Saw V - although I'm yet to see it and was initially excited, is just the 5th in a long line of money making duplicates. The other films I've seen, and Knocked Up would be my pick. Love Seth Rogen, he's a great writer, and a great comedy actor. Timing is exceptional, and the film is funny as fuck. Peace. |

i'll be interested to know what you thought of american gangster..
ill assume the phrase "denzel is the donadon" etc will come into it lol.. it was a well crafted movie, but i didnt think it was a knockout like it should have been.. the two main characters didnt get involved enough together..

Well it's not my choice what we watchin', the two aforementioned movies were just my choices, but my dear companion might have had other ideas...but for the record American Gangster has been chosen, so there you have it... anyway, razor-sharp wit as always, 'Neppo'
And Denzel is the Dondadda...the two main characters weren't supposed to interact, that's the whole idea... It's realistic (because it's based on a real story)... in real investigations it's hardly commonplace for the detective to actually meet the motherfucker he's chasing 500 times in the space of a few days and only manage to finally put him away right at the end... so I like that they adopted a more realistic approach simply as it made it a little less predictable and formulaic in comparison with other films of this nature... The dual storylines are awesome and come together brilliantly... (Amazing Grace scene - wow)... I agree it perhaps wasn't a knockout in the sense of raw aggression (as everyone was expecting, as it was about black people, blat blat gangsta gangsta and all that), which if anything I would put down to a lack of BRILLIANT supporting characters...they were all good and that was it... Really you had to rely on Denzel or Russel to bring the best moments to the movie, but even then to be fair, not much of it was raw, Casino/Goodfellas/Scarface style aggression that many people were expecting...but it worked, even though I generally lean towards stuff with more aggression, I prefer that this lacked that and insodoing forged its own identity separate from Training Day, Scarface, anything and everything...if anything it was most comparable with the Godfather, which obviously works for me, as that's my all-time favourite I would say this lagged a bit though... shortenin' some scenes here and there could have shaved 15-20 mins off the movie for the better Anyway...time to watch the ish now |

trainin day was wack everybody shud watch chopper. its based on from the legend mark chopper reed's life from his 20s onwards. (though they shudda done his childhood witch was almost as fucked up) great film and script and amazingly good acting of chopper obv. alot of research went on, with mannerisms he has etc. rise of the footsodier a dope true story of the notorius essex boys murder's. and on another UK tip, rollin wid thhe nines is ballin. tho a little cheesy at times, and tho it doesnt really go too deep in to gangland with only like a kilo or two changin hands, still nice as fuck. I mean comparing them in terms of the type of film
You can compare scarface to casino...goodfella's ect Though training day has gangsters in it (well dodgy fuckin cops) i dont think its the same sorta film as scarface as i said it's like comparing big daddy to planet of the apes...Ya know? Also if you do want to compare them... Scarface > Training day Though both are great films |
